Why Watching Earthlings Will Make It Easier for You to Be Vegan

Earthlings is a harrowing account of our treatment of animals and how the exploitation of animals is pervasive across every area of our lives including food, clothing, entertainment, medical care and pets. If you are looking for motivation to go vegan, then you need to watch Earthlings. Today.

Earthlings is possibly the most well-known and widely watched vegan, animal rights documentary. It is narrated by Joaquin Phoenix and directed by Shaun Monson.

The truth is that change is difficult. We get set in our ways and ingrained habits are difficult to break.

We most often need a major emotional event to motivate us to change. Even when we know the change will be good for us.

Earthlings is a documentary that is guaranteed to set you up for a major paradigm shift. Your life will never be the same. And that’s a good thing!

Does Earthlings Only Show the Worst-Case Scenarios?

Earthlings is made up of undercover video footage and some people think it only shows the worst-case scenarios of the way animals are treated. But I challenge that view and have seen considerable evidence that confirms the opening statement on the video which states: “These are not isolated cases.”

Animals are not even recognized as sentient beings. There is a fundamental flaw in the way we categorize them. They are legally classified as property, which gives us a license to treat them like objects.

How we classify animals underpins all our decisions about how we interact with them. The consequence is that it’s common practice for every non-vegan to completely disregard what should be an animal’s three absolute, non-negotiable rights:

  1. Life,
  2. liberty and
  3. bodily integrity.

The sad truth is we have the legal right to exploit and kill animals and this makes them vulnerable to the worst abuses. Animal rights violations are ingrained into the fabric of our society and happen more often than you think.

Here are some everyday examples:

  1. You are fully entitled to leave your pet at a shelter where there is minimal chance of him being rehomed, so he will most certainly be euthanazed. There is no social stigma and there will be no negative repercussions for you. You will not have to find him another home. You will not have to witness him being ‘put to sleep.’ Simply drop him off and forget about him.
  2. The cow who produced the milk in your cereal was repeatedly artificially impregnated, the majority of her calves have been slaughtered and she will be slaughtered within a couple of years. You won’t need to consent to any of these actions. You won’t need to witness them either. The matrix of society protects you from this. It’s all done for you simply and conveniently behind the scenes. Simply buy a container of milk and drink it.

The Importance of Mindset

People go vegan for many different reasons, and each scenario sets you up for a different experience.

Going Vegan for Health Reasons is Harder

When you choose to go vegan for your health the stumbling block is that you still think of animal products as food. You would be required to make a choice at every meal whether to eat animal products or stay on your vegan ‘diet’.

You could feel deprived of all the foods you used to love. This means you are very likely to treat veganism like a ‘restrictive’ diet and that requires willpower.

As your day progresses you will be bombarded with cravings, stress and fatigue. You will be exposed to temptation and peer pressure at every turn.

Very few people have the discipline and willpower needed to withstand these challenges and maintain what they feel is a ‘restrictive’ diet on a long-term basis.

It’s all about your mindset.

Two Ways to Succeed if You’re on a Vegan ‘Diet’

There are two ways you can be successful choosing to go vegan for your health:

1. Adopt a Nutritarian Lifestyle

One option is to adopt a Nutritarian lifestyle created by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. It is the healthiest diet on the planet, protects you against lifestyle diseases, expands your food choices and doesn’t require you to count calories.

Going Vegan For the Animals is Easier

When you experience a paradigm shift that opens your eyes to the true nature of animal products then you will no longer see animal products as food. You will relate them to the animals who suffered and died before they arrived on your plate.

This will make all your food choices much easier. Now when you look at a buffet you will not be confronted with the choice of eating animal products or vegan foods because you will believe to the core of your being that animal products are not food. So all your options would be vegan.

If there are no vegan options on offer all you need to do is make a plan to get them. If you feel a craving for a specific comfort food all you need to do is buy or make the vegan version, because everything can be veganized.

So, you won’t need to feel like you’re on a restrictive diet and you won’t need willpower to succeed. You will be liberated to feel joyful. You will be excited to try out all the new food options a vegan lifestyle offers you. You will be discovering new recipes and you will feel grateful for the abundance of flavors, colors and varieties of beans, vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds and other vegan foods and desserts.

“Now I can look at you in peace; I don’t eat you anymore.”
— Franz Kafka

Since you will no longer contribute to animal suffering and death your conscience will be clear and you would rejoice in the knowledge that you are part of the solution. You will be on an Elated Vegan journey and the world will open up with new adventures and new communities.

It’s Important for You to Watch Earthlings SOON

Universally, the biggest regret vegans have is that they didn’t go vegan sooner.

In addition to the negative impact animal exploitation has on the environment and your health, there are two primary reasons why you could regret not going vegan sooner.

1. Delaying Going Vegan Extends the Time You are Responsible for Animal Abuse

The first reason is vegans regret the additional time they were personally responsible for contributing to the exploitation and slaughter of animals.

When you have the courage to finally stand your ground and face the truth about how animals are exploited in your name then you can do something about it. Choosing to protect yourself from the truth only serves to protect the animal abusers and ensure that more animals are abused for longer.

2. Delaying Going Vegan Postpones Your Own Awakening and Transformation

The other reason vegans regret not going vegan sooner is that they delayed the moment of their personal awakening.

When you lift the curtain and look behind the scenes what you will see is shocking. It cracks the humane washing marketing myths wide open so that you see the dark underbelly of how humans exploit and kill animals to satisfy our greed for taste sensations, entertainment, status and profit.

Yes, knowing the truth can be traumatic and you will feel traumatised, but it is also liberating. Opening your mind to the truth is transformational and I believe this is a transformation you will welcome. When you see the world how it really is, you become empowered to make informed decisions and become a part of the solution with the ability to create change for the better.

This experience can be likened to Neo’s journey in The Matrix. Neo is offered the choice to take the red pill that will open his mind to the truth, or take the blue pill that will preserve his belief in the artificial reality that is imprisoning and exploiting him.
