Reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) is a popular mushroom frequently used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its consumption extends to Korea and Japan and it’s been making it’s way West from there.

In fact, Reishi Mushroom’s use dates back to ancient times, at least 2000 years ago. In nature, Reishi grows at the base and stumps of deciduous trees, especially that of the maple and only 1/1000 tree’s will have Reishi growth, in short, it’s extremely rare.

In China the name Lingzhi signifies a combination of spiritual potency and essence of immortality, and is viewed as the “herb of spiritual potency,” signifying success, well-being, divine power, and longevity.

Reishi is a confusing taxonomy and may be known by other names, such as Lingzhi, Ganoderma lingzhi, and the Mushroom of Immortality.
